to have ileo-caecal Crohn’s disease has been treated with oral steroids for
several months. She has been admitted under the care of a surgical team with
intestinal obstruction and a decision has been made to proceed to surgery. The
house surgeon has been instructed to change the patient’s treatment from
oral prednisolone to intravenous hydrocortisone in the peri-operative period.
