Advanced Best of Five
Part 2
These best of five questions are more advanced in that
they test application of knowledge rather than basic knowledge. They are
designed to test your ability to use basic knowledge to work out what
investigations or management decisions you would make in clinical scenarios.
The questions are usually in the form of grey cases ( a
short written clinical scenario) data interpretation ( interpretation of
written data) slide interpretation ( interpretation of a visual image)
These questions are the type that are asked in the MRCP
part 2 examination and other examinations such as USMLE, MD, FCCP etc
How to approach part 2 BOF
These questions are not tests of factual knowledge, they
test your ability to use your knowledge to interpret and make decisions (knows
how)
To interpret it is necessary to have a good method of
interpretation
Clinical Data
Where clinical data is concerned it is essential to have
good clinical methods, as you will need to apply them correctly in order to
make an interpretation. Revise your clinical methods using ACES for PACES
Investigations
Where investigations are concerned it is important to
have a robust method of interpretation. We have included methods of analysing
medical investigations in our companion website
